Don’t Be Shy–Just Take a Look

Standard

I was at a red light yesterday, minding my own business on my bike, when a middle aged lady pulled up on her bike right beside me.

She looked over at me, 7 months pregnant and wearing (yes!) my bike helmet, then proceeded to bend her neck sideways, lean in towards me, and boldly look me up and down several times with special attention to my midsection, before apparently granting approval.

She then looked me in the face, grinning widely, and gave me a big thumbs up with both hands.

Why should I feel self-conscious at all about staring at things I find “different” over here?

I’ll fit right in!
