Shanhaiguan in February

Standard

Entertaining visitors from the US is a good reason to do a little sightseeing, so we took a day trip to Shanhaiguan this week to see the easternmost part of the Great Wall where it meets the ocean.

We spent more time in the mountainous part about 20 minutes away from the ocean, where the kids rejoiced in the unpopulated spaces and even more the rugged climb where the reconstructed part of the Wall ended in a narrow rocky footpath on ruins that took us up a steep mountainside.

Among the few other visitors present on a Tuesday in February (off-peak to say the least) was of course the ubiquitous high-heeled fashionista.
